Population

Age 18 and older * Includes all total Knee replacements (primary and revision); bilateral joint replacements count as a single wait * Includes all priority levels * Excludes emergency cases * Excludes knee resurfacing techniques * Excludes days when patient was unavailable

Definition

The number of days a patient waited, from the booking date to the date the patient received a planned total knee replacement. Booking date is when the patient and the appropriate physician agree to a service, and the patient is ready to receive it.

Exceptions

Includes patient unavailable days for some patients who were clinically unready for surgery for 90 days following steroid joint injections. Prior to 2017, these days were excluded from the wait time
